This section of Appium Studio tutorials will cover the installation of Appium Studio, and connecting both real devices, simulators and emulators. The guide covers installation for both Windows and iOS, it also covers simulators for iOS and Android.

Chapter 1: Getting started with appium Remarks Appium is an open source, cross-platform test automation tool for native, hybrid and mobile web apps, tested on simulators (iOS, FirefoxOS), emulators (Android), and real devices (iOS, Android. Appium will not run if NODE or Appium itself is installed using SUDO and MAC won't let you install neither without using SUDO. There is a workaround though. My steps make it possible to install and setup Appium the right way without need to use SUDO for installation. Everything is tested and it works. Below are the steps.

System Requirements for Appium Studio
Minimum Hardware Requirements:
- Intel® i5 or i7 processor
- 1 GB free hard disk space
- 8 GB RAM
- 1 available USB 2.0 port and USB cable
Windows OS and Software Requirements:
- Microsoft® Windows XP™ SP2 (32 bit), Vista (32/64 bit), Windows 7 (32/64 bit), Windows 8 or higher
- Net Framework 3.5 or higher
Mac OS and Software Requirements:
- OS X version 10.7 or higher
- XCode along with Command Line Developer Tools must be installed

- Android 4.4 and above
- iOS 9 and above

Supported Platforms
Appium supports app automation across a variety of platforms, like iOS,Android, and Windows. Each platform is supported by one or more 'drivers',which know how to automate that particular platform.

Why Appium?
- You don't have to recompile your app or modify it in any way, dueto the use of standard automation APIs on all platforms.
- You can write tests with your favorite dev tools using anyWebDriver-compatiblelanguage such as Java, Objective-C, JavaScript (Node), PHP, Python, Ruby,C#, Clojure, or Perl with the Selenium WebDriver API and language-specificclient libraries.
- You can use any testing framework.
- Appium has built-in mobile web and hybrid app support. Within the samescript, you can switch seamlessly between native app automation and webviewautomation, all using the WebDriver model that's already the standard forweb automation.
Investing in theWebDriver protocol meansyou are betting on a single, free, and open protocol for testing that has becomea web standard. Don't lock yourself into a proprietary stack.
For example, if you use Apple's XCUITest library without Appium you can onlywrite tests using Obj-C/Swift, and you can only run tests through Xcode.Similarly, with Google's UiAutomator or Espresso, you can only write tests inJava/Kotlin. Appium opens up the possibility of true cross-platform native appautomation, for mobile and beyond. Finally!

Requirements
Your environment needs to be set up for the particular platforms that you wantto run tests on. Each of the drivers above documents the requirements for theirparticular brand of automation. At a minimum, you will need to be able to runNode.js 12+.
