USB Drivers Download
Use Terminal to Create the El Capitan Bootable USB Installer. Follow these steps to create a bootable USB installer of El Capitan in Terminal. Connect the USB flash drive to your Mac. Give the flash drive an appropriate name. You can do this by double-clicking the device's name on the desktop and then typing a new name. To create a bootable El Capitan installer drive, you need the El Capitan installer from the Mac App Store and a Mac-formatted drive that’s big enough to hold the installer and all its data. In June 2018, I tried to install El Capitan on a USB drive using the createinstallmedia tool (on a Mac on High Sierra). After erasing the drive and then using that tool, my laptop failed to boot from the drive, so I tried toggling “Ignore ownership”.
