Your instructor may notify you that you must use Respondus Lockdown Browser to take your quiz or exam. Please refer to the Lockdown Browser – Getting Started for Students. The method to access your quiz or exam will depend on which version of Canvas Quizzes your instructor is using. Visually, you cannot determine which quizzing engine your instructor is using until you click into the quiz. You will not need to install Respondus Lockdown Browser more than once, but your will either access the application from your normal browser or through your applications menu.
To download the LockDown Browser, follows these simple steps: 1. Click on the HELP button on the Canvas Menu. Click on the Student Resources link. Scroll down the page to Downloads. Click on the download link: Respondus LockDown Browser/Monitor. (A) Download and install Respondus LockDown Browser. (B) Test their Respondus LockDown Browsers before attempting graded quizzes in course sites. Click 'Join this Course' at the top right of the screen. Click 'Enroll in Course.' (This is not a graded course! It's just for helping students with Respondus!) Download Respondus. Respondus Lockdown Browser + Monitor. Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas. Monitor is an additional feature that may be used in conjunction with Lockdown Browser. Monitor requires students use a webcam to record their testing session. Instructors may review Monitor videos following student exams. Students can download LockDown Browser from http. LockDown Browser should only be used for taking Canvas quizzes. An exam using Respondus LockDown Browser.
If you are using a computer from another source (i.e. A community library, from work, from a high school, etc.) you may not have permission to download and install Lockdown Browser. Contact that entity for assistance.If you need to use Respondus Lockdown Browser with the ALEKS math system (not Canvas), you must use the ALEKS download found here.
Lockdown Browser and Canvas Classic Quizzes
When you access a quiz or exam created as a Classic Quiz, the displayed settings will let you know that Respondus Lockdown Browser is required.
