It looks like Mac users get to use the new Google Notifier and are able to ditch that GMail Notifier. The name change had to happen because the Google Notifier is also integrated with Google Calendar now. Here is what Google has to say about the new release:
Google Notifier. Google Notifier is a handy utility which runs on your computer. It notifies you when you receive new email or prior to an appointment starting. To download and install the Notifier use the links and information below. Download the Notifier for Windows. If you do not want to download the APK file, you can install eSchool Notifier PC by connecting your Google account with the emulator and downloading the app from the play store directly. If you follow the above steps correctly, you should have the eSchool Notifier ready to run on your Windows PC or MAC.
Google Notifier is a program for the Mac that lets you know whenever you receive a new Gmail message or have an upcoming event on Google Calendar. When a Gmail message arrives, or an event’s time is near, you’ll see a nifty translucent box on the screen that tells you about the message or the event. But wait — there’s more! With Google Notifier, you can:
- See a list of your unread Gmail messages.
- Make Gmail your default email program.
- Quickly see upcoming events from your Google Calendar.
- Create a new Google Calendar event.

Best of all, you don’t have to open a web browser to use Notifier. When you install Notifier, you’ll see a couple of new menu extras, icons on the right side of your menu bar. Click the Gmail icon to see the subjects of your recently received emails, or click the Calendar icon to see your upcoming appointments.
This does look pretty appealing since it does offer a quick alternative to adding events to your Google Calendar. However, this software is in Beta so you may experience some issues with it.

I wolud like to know whether I have unread messages at Google Wave or not, like Google Notifier for Mac for GMail and Google Calendar. I could find Google Wave Add-on for Firefox at That Smith. So I implemented one as referencing the add-on. Thank you Chad at That Smith.
